I created a separate page for Rhythmic Gymnastic Leotards I make, since most inquires I receive are about the leotards.
I started sewing leotards a few years ago when my daughter starting rhythmic gymnastics. She was a really tiny tot back them, barely in kindergarten.
I have been using a variety of sewing patterns as a foundation including Kwik Sew, Jalie, Ottobre and self drafted. And, of course, I like to experiment with different techniques:
Applique, fabric paint and glitter, hot fix and regular crystals, heat transfer paints, using dimensional details, etc.
Leotard Front |
I used pre-made sequined appliques glitter fabric paint, holographic spandex and rhinestones.
The sleeves used to have finger-loops, but had to be trimmed as the little gymnast grew.

The swirls are supposed to mimic the path of flying butterflies. |
