Just a TRUCK quilt

This one also took a while.
I had this truck fabric for a long, long time, until one special boy, who is obsessed with trucks was turning 3 years old.

Quilt Front:

Simple enough. I wanted to carry the colors from the truck fabric, at the same time to make it seem that the trucks "move" through the quilt. The yellow represents road, blue represents the sky and green - trees.

Quilt Back:

The boy's name (No, his name isn't really "hide The Name) is appliqued on either side of the light, using satin stitch applique.

Pattern used: none
Fabric:

• Unknown truck print stash fabric
• Kona red
• yellow and green, grey, blue solid from Connecting Threads

Quilting:  allover giant stipple

I did not have enough fabric leftover for a matching pillowcase, so I purchased a pillowcase and added a cuff with contrast piping.

Finished!

This quilt took a very, very long time.
I finished everything but quilting the border and sewing binding 3+ years ago!

2 reasons I never finished it: first of all, it's very large, making it very hard to quilt on a regular machine and second, I had another baby and with 5 kids there just isn't enough time!
Slowly, slowly I was able to complete the quilt and make a matching pillowcase for a standard Ikea throw pillow (even the zipper was a perfect size, no shortening needed- love when that happens!).

 15 minutes after the quilt and the pillow were laid on the couch my almost 4 year old fell asleep snuggled under the quilt and slept for few hours.
And just to think that she was a tiny baby when I started the quilt!

Fabric: Jelly Roll Strips from Connecting Threads
Border: Kona Cotton in Wheat and Espresso
Batting: Warm and Natural.
Quilting: machine quilted with large all over stipple
Finished size: 70"x70"

a finished baby quilt

I finally have a finished quilt to post!
This is a "scrap quilt" mentioned here made from the leftover fabric from the "wavy" quilt, still unfinished (waiting for some Kaufman Prisma Batik in Lilac for the border).
Luckily for me, I had a baby girl and the girls will be sharing a room in the future, with matching quilts!

4 Quilt Tops

I currently have 4!, yes, 4 quilt tops that need to be "sandwiched" and quilted.
Why?
#1 -not enough batting for all of them (more is on the way)
#2 - baby quilt - I can't finish this one before finishing big siter's quilt, which I can not do, due to reason #1
#3 - not enough room to quilt the borders on the "couch throw" quilt - 72"
#4 - needs to be quilted with monofilament thread -not my favorite

So, while I wait for the batting, what do I do?
Plan a new quilt, of course!

I love the concept: easy strip pieced, triangle cut quilts. One set of strips creates 2 similar (in color and composition), but not identical quilts.

Perfect for siblings sharing a room.

Fabric groups I'm using are dark grey, charcoals and black; second group is blues. With Kona Coal as an accent color.

About quilt tops and finished quilts

I haven't updated in a while..
My latest completed project was a ...baby.
Now that she is almost 5 month old I can get back into serious quilting, sewing, knitting.
New baby means new baby quilt of course! Lucky for me it's a girl and I have leftover fabric from Eden "Wavy" quilt.
Here are some pictures of quilt in progress.

It's a simple strip - pieced quilt with white sashing and borders.

A new quilt

This quilt was started a while ago.
But... as it usually goes, I had other projects to finish, then I needed more fabric, then I decided to go with another blender.
I have 14 (out of 35) blocks needed for this quilt.

But I had to play with the blocks a little...

I simply love the flow of the waves and how the shades of purple/lilac/ play together.



Now I can wait to finish it and quilt it with these free-form flowing waves.

Doll Quilt

This is a first ever doll quilt I made.
I chose to use big blocks of color because I really need to practice my free-motion technique and every square was quilted with a different design.
The print is Kaffe Fasset Millefiore in Pastel.






My favorite free-motion quilted block. Is started out as a
"Flowing Glass" design, but morphed into an underwater scene.
